Where are they now??

Postby Htc Motorsport » Thu Jan 22, 2009 3:06 pm

Is Des Walls old torana the car that was here in Adelaide owned by James Rosenberg. The car was blue when raced here with Gawler farm machinery down the side. What is its history ex HDT. Where is it now. reason for asking is a guy here has some bits left over from a dismantled sports sedan LX sedan that was made into a new car. He says a Commodore VS. ????

The Des Wall car is the EX HDT Sports Sedan, the one that your are thinking of might be the EX Gary Rogers/Robin Doherty Torana.

As Dasnowman mention, they are two completely different cars. Rogers car was an A9x that went to Tony Hubbard and then on to Robin Doherty. I think Doherty may have updated it to a Commodore body shell. Hubbard sold the Torana to buy the Richards Big M Falcon.
Note Bob Tindals A9X hatch was a different car too, I think he may have updated his to the Walkinshaw bodied car.

The MHDT beast went to Geoff Russell then on to Greg Wright before Des purchased the car. Des still has it and as mentioned before is in the process of restoring it. I think he was waiting to finish the Geoghan Monaro before he starts on it. Lets hope the Supra goes back to Brock monza specs.... The beast was a sedan, not a hatch.

I see, well whatever it is that i have seen it's an old LX Sports Sedan pale Blue in colour exactly like the old HDT one that Des is restoring. There is nothing but the shell, the frame and everything has gone. He said maybe the name Trump engineering stripped the chassis out of it to make a VS Commodore sports sedan. The only VS i can think of was Steve Montorosso's here in Adelaide that is owned by David Brensell. Thanks

What about the Sportelli Camaro? I thought this car was different to the Jarrett Camaro. Pretty wild looking thing.

Or the Noel Delforce P76. Allan Moffat was once reprimanded for walking across the bonnet of this beast and referring to it as the Queen Mary...
