Nah Oran Park will still be running till the end of 2010 only the v8s arent running there because it isnt viable to spend a couple of million dollars to upgrade the facilities just to run two more years of v8s hence the reason homebush is now the sydney race...

sports sedans in 2009

I suppose what rounds the Sport Sedans run at with the Shannons national series will be decided on by the Shannons organisers. I'd agree that Wakefield Park seems like a bit of an odd choice over Oran Park, still the track is pretty tight so it might keep the pack bunched up and put on some good racing. Could even encourage some quick Canberra based Mazda Rotary racers to have a run (you know who you are!!).
Also good to see that QLD gets a round again (hopefully it goes ahead) as plenty of cars are based out of that state.

Really to ensure that there are decent sized fields I think the rounds should be run in states where the national series can get good support from competitive state based cars. Some of these are quick but the owners just don't have the money to travel and race interstate. The round at Mallala is at odds with this though as there really aren't many cars based out of SA at the moment.
Still I think it would be pretty rude to abandon the event when you consider the effort that has gone into the establishment of the Clem Smith Cup. Might have to get more Victorians based cars to travel over that way as they're the ones that don't have to travel as far as everyone else to get there!

I think the Muscle Car Masters is a great idea. It will give the class a chance to race in front of a decent crowd for the first time in a while. Also it is a race meeting attended by real motorsport enthusiasts so there may be a chance to drum up some new interest in our class. I guess some of the spectators would be well aware of the legendary cars and drivers of the past that ran in Sport Sedans, so seeing the class run again might encourage them to in some way get involved. I might be a bit optimistic with that thought but it at least it will help put
Sport Sedans back on the radar to people who follow proper motorsport, not the boring one make, two make racing series that seem to get the majority of the motorsport media attention.

Phast Phil does not run the series anymore. It was taken over by Dean Randle and Mark Nelson after the final round of 2008.

PP may compete in 2009 however he like you does not know the schedule either.

I hope Dean & Mark inform the forum as well as entrants soon. I think the schedule has changed a few times already and hard to lock down.

Boost, that's different to what I've heard.

The last contact I had listed dates as:

Wakefield 25/26 April (Shannons) Definate
Mallala 6/7 June ( Shannons) Definate

Then some combination of the following

Eastern Creek 18/19 July (Shannons)
Morgan Park 8/9 August (Shannons)
Oran Park 29/30 August (Shannons)
Eastern Creek 5/6 September (Muscle Car Masters)
Sandown 7/8 November (Historics)

The uncertainty over the QLD event definately hasn't helped. Unfortunately all the state calanders have now been set and without knowing the national dates we were unable to work around the national calander. 3 national dates clash with QLD state rounds and others are very close to NSW rounds so numbers may be down.
