The car we are working on is a fair way away from hitting the track. There is a lot of work to be done before it ever gets there, a real lot.
At this stage the engine is still up for debate. If the v8s are still getting the advantage they are now it may end up with an alloy blocked Ls series engine from a late model corvette or simillar

I do prefer the sound of a high revving v8.
I hope they will open up the rules for the small multi valve V8 engines.
For example if I instead use a
4.0 V8 with 500 hp
If I guess the weight per hp on the big engines.

It should be around 1.5 kg per hp

In that comparison I should build a car weighing in at 750 kg to be able to compete with those big engines.
I would be glad if we can get an approval for 4.0 V8 max rpm 9000

Weight 900 kg or 925

4.5 V8 975 no matter the valves used.

If you want to be on the podium I think you are going to have to look at maximum engine sizes, good luck with trying to work the rules to penalize the maximums to allow a 1600cc naturally aspirated to run on a level playing field with a 6000cc N/A or a 3500cc turbo or a turbo triple rotor.
Currently a 5100cc 4 valve is expected to run at the same weight as a 6000cc 2 valve.
A 6000cc 2 valve gets a 75kg weight advantage over a 6000cc 4 valve ( assuming both are at Minimum weight ).

In the Vic Panel proposal, there are two items that I think go well together, deleting the 75kg and deleting the requirement for cast iron blocks to remain as cast iron.

That all sounds good
I cant understand why people are not runing gen 4 chevy blocks.
they are all alloy anyway and can be tuned to make some great power.

What I would prefer to do is.
Yes a 4.5 NA Multi valve V8
Under the 975 rule do you say that will be accepted in tge 2015 season.
I agree it will be a miracle to get a podium that way but really want to do it differently.
I may have to get a Chassis better than anything else to ballance the lower hp by about 150 to 200 hp which is huge.
I hope the organisation will realise that if they want the field to grow

They should allow a more equally suitable rules which they can do by allowing the smaller engines to compensate with a higher rev limit like 10.500 rpm

That should get me 650 to 680 hp
Bringing the hp difference to 80 - 100 hp

This could be bridged with a propper chassis suspension package to compensate for the lower hp.

I didnt say that the rules will change im not sure what they doing with the rules, we are just building a car at the moment ourselves.
Building a better chassis it not such an easy thing. The guys winning it are not doing it from shear hp alone. They have the best of everything out there and they can drive them as well. I understand you wanting to do it what your doing and Im the same sort of mentality but when your coming on the straight at qr is that lesser weight going to be enough to over come the hp deficiet. if you think yes then go for it and build the 4.5 I would love to see it out there. Maybe look at the vk56 as a viable option as well I know nismo used to make them scream

Alfaspeed it sounds like you will not be happy playing in sports sedans under the current rules, I don’t know what your budget is but there is a category in NZ that may be more to your liking they don’t have engine size, rev or weight limits, that category sounds more like what you are looking for. Not sure what the class is called but shouldn’t be hard to find on Google.

Oh yeah. That's a great car I really hope with the work they have done that they get a good run out of it.
I haven't done anything with bobbies car only to show him where to get some parts. He has done if all himself and it looks good. I can't wait to see it on the track
