Round 5 Wakefield Park - The 2012 Championship Showdown!

I have not seen an entry form for WP yet. I do not do any admin any more, that is now run by Rob & Liam Curkpatrick from the Nationals. I suspect we will receive an entry form in mid September.

I am going and I suspect all the remaining series entrants will be there.

I am still trying to understand Nadz comment. It is a fact that there was some crash's at EC, I was stating the obvious and maybe some are still in repair stage. Why is this the National sereis fault and no adverse attitude has been shown so who dreamt that one up?

WP is not a joint state/ National round but all are welcome to enter. The series Dunlop tyres must be used in qualifying and racing and the RPM limits must be adhered to..

There are crashes at all meets in all classes at all levels of motorsport phil, hell we have even seen the series two best drivers take each other out in some cases, the way you have pointed out the obvious makes it look like your degrading the state series, when in fact a majority of our field would have started in state level racing.... Just saying maybe you shouldnt burn your bridges with the state guys because i enjoy the combined state/national rounds and that seems to be the only time there is a descent size field on the grid...

Jesus Nadz get over it. I have been known to crash on occasion also.
Why is it that some people always think there is a them and us situation.

Here is what it is. The state clubs run a state championship and this is successful in some states and less successful in some and non existent in some others.

Sports Sedans Pty Ltd run a national series and has a core of teams who compete. At 3 events this year a national series and state championship rounds were combined. This may not continue as in 2 states the state numbers were down this year causing some financial loss for the state associations. As a result next year there may not be any combined events.

The National series will continue and every competitor will make their own choice as to whether they compete in a state or national series or both if they are that keen. We provide the series and we design it around our core customers, the teams that compete and the financial requirements to run such a series.

Hey phil, maybe you didnt mean for it to come across that way? but unfortunately
due to typing and not speaking the comment very much came across to people that
you were baging out the state guys who had a turn 2 incident.

maybe just a 'sorry, didnt mean for people to take it that way' and people would move
on without knickers in knot?

hopefully this comment im making is coming across in a non attacking tone.

Round 5 Wakefield Park - The 2012 Championship Showdown!

Postby vehc-arbilac » Wed Sep 05, 2012 10:13 pm

Hi All , Personally I didn’t have any problem at Eastern Creek . I always look forward to the national series visiting NSW & a chance to have a chat with interstate visitors we only see a few times a year , & to mix it with the National Guys & see how we shape up .
Unfortunately I ended up with a puncture & into the wall in turn 1 , but that’s racing .

As far as Wakefield goes, I agreed to run under Grant Schneider’s entry & have the date firmly in my calendar .

I agreed to the entry around 3 weeks before the Dunlop tyre deal was announced. I was also under the belief that it only applied to contracted teams & those scoring kerrick National series points , not state series competitors , entering their local rounds as grid fillers .

Reading comments above am I wrong .

I have an agreement with kumho race tyres & running Dunlops is not an option for me . I am certainly happy to run all Kerick series sponsorship stickers , in their approved locations ( including the Dunlop stickers ) . Even though Air technology Australia is our NSW major sponsor , I have always run 2 x Kerick stickers , on the side doors , out or appreciation for Kerrick's support of our national series , & will also run the windscreen banner for Wakefield & dont expect any Kerrick series points .

At the recent EC combined round , NSW competitors were running a mixture of Dunlop , Avon , Kumho & Michelin Tyres . I don’t think a single person watching the SBS telecast was even aware of this , or would have considered it detrimental to the series.

I also think that while allot of effort has been made this year to increase national series numbers via contracted teams & other incentives , the reality is that a field of contracted cars only, is still poor on numbers & does not look good on TV . The addition of some of the top NSW cars, 2/3 of whom are on other tyre brands , would be considerably more beneficial to the series, than any determent that may be cause by their tyre brands .

Many NSW competitors cannot afford new tyres each round & simply bolting on a new set of Dunlops is not an option . Others use good second hand tyres sourced from GT teams ( usually Michelin) & new tyres are not an option at all .

As we are on a forum debating things, I hope there is room for some debate on this issue prior to Wakefield , or do I call Grant & tell him to find someone else to use his entry?

Have a pretty good car , have an entry organised , hoping to have a run at Wakefield.

We have a contract with Dunlop and that involves all national entrants (even part time ones) running the nominated Dunlop tyres.

Sorry if that does not work out for you Chris but there is no exceptions...and there is a good reason for that.
