Building a Sport Sedan - Regulations

Hey guys, I'm Cameron.

I'm in the process of wanting to build a Sport Sedan to get a bit more serious with the racing aspect of my life.
Haven't given it a great deal of thought because I'm not too sure on what the limitations/ regulations are. I've done a quick search of the internet but haven't been able to find the information I'm after.

Does anyone have a link to the regs/ build requirements I could have a read of?
