ROUND 3, EASTERN CREEK

Postby FalconEL » Tue Jul 17, 2012 9:10 am

Thanks to the NSW State guys for the hospitality and awesome racing! Eastern Creek is a great track with a bit of everything!

My apologies to David McGuinness for the damage sustained when I backed into him in the Marshalling Area before Race 3!! Sorry Dave! I was trying to do A 16-Point Turn to park my rig in P25 (after being stuffed around and put in the wrong spot by the marshals down there), finally found reverse in the Holinger and let the clutch out just as Dave was driving being me!

Thanks also to fellow competitor Steven Lacey for coming over to help my push it into the correct spot (P24) after I turned it off....

ROUND 3, EASTERN CREEK

Postby 2002 turbo » Tue Jul 17, 2012 12:03 pm

I agree some good racing in all three races and a huge field too thanks to the support of ASSA NSW.

A big congrats to Tony Ricciardello, what a fight back from round 1 and the pace he had was impressive setting a new lap record too. Unlucky that technical issues held Darren Hossack back as he too was really fast over the weekend and pushed Ricciardello pretty hard.
Good to see Baily & Wall having a decent scrap, they still have plenty of speed and the build quality on the Aston Martin is amazing. Bradford was also quick and Chris Jackson was really on the pace too,
pity about the turn 1 off but thankfully he was ok although the Calibra needs some repairs. Jameson & Tamasi were pretty much neck & neck too. Bit of damage to Cetin's Camaro and Reed's Mustang but didn't look to be too serious so hopefully they'll be fixed up and be running again soon.

Well done also to forum regular & "Ford tragic" :pChris Donnelly too on his first run at Eastern Creek he set some real good lap times.

The big screen they put up was also great so we could see the action around the back of the track too.

You are welcome anytime Mr. Donnelly, as are your fellow Queenslanders. We have another round at the creek in September; you should join us again! McGinniss and Lacey are fine examples of the sporting chaps you will encounter in NSW!!! You are the first person to say thank you, and for that you are most welcome.

ROUND 3, EASTERN CREEK

Postby jd yort » Thu Jul 19, 2012 9:22 pm

Maybe I am biased but there is always such a buzz when Sports Sedans take to the grid. Will have to get around to going through my pics. Darren going from 14th on the grid to 4th in one corner was unbelievable.

Questions...
- Chris how badly damaged is the Calibra?
- Tony R are you willing to reveal what the "problem" was that you located post the fire in your Facebook post?

- Chris how badly damaged is the Calibra?

Front End Fiberglass ( repairable) Radiator ( weldable) Radiator ducting ( hammerable) Light steel work in the front end that supports the radiator & front end . Suspension & chassis Straight , so basically its more of an inconvienance than anything . Will be fixed in the next week or 2 .

Thanks also to the huge number of people who contacted me to make sure I was ok & to see if i needed a hand . Great to realise how much everybody in this category cares about their fellow compeditors . ;)

Awesome field of Sports Sedans & congrats to everybody who ran , thats how it should be , a full grid of the quickest tin tops in the country .

My off in turn 1 started when i picked up some debris which caused a slow leak in the RF Tyre . I should have realised as it understeered quite badly in turn 12 & then with the extra load in turn 1 it let go & stuck me in the tyre wall . Fortunatly the understeer in turn 12 let Jammo get far enough ahead that i didnt take him with me in turn 1 .

Check the vid from where i sat .
