At the last Historic race meet at Warick, Morgan Park there were three Group U fully logbooked and COD'd cars running amongst the Group C and A Touring cars, the Cand A boys all have a bloody big whinge, ie "Oh those WRONG cars won OUR race" etc, ffs, it is a race for Groups C,A &U, there is a winner in each category, sometimes a U car wins, sometimes a A car wins, and so on, big deal. Apparently the sheep stations are still quite big.
Current running cars are trenoweth in the Unipart XJS Jaguar, Fred Sayers in a Mini, Goulding in the ex Cossoer Falcon Six Mk1 Escort, Garry Ford in his own original 289 Mk1 Escort
Currently approved for COD but yet to get final inspection id Jason lea in the ex Bruce Smith RX7, it won the 1985 Qld Sports Sedan Div 2 Champs. there are a couple more in the wings.
HRCC Qld is more than happy to have these cars run at historic meets, they just need you to get them done. The logbook and COD process is NOT hard, I have just done the RX7, the elegibility guys are much happier if you keep the info pretty simple, and you just pick one period in time, but you have to provide docementary evidence, photos logbooks, race result, lap sheets, news articles.
I was quite lucky in that Danny Meneguzzo, ( Cortina Mk1) kept ALL his old records, this helped prove the rx7, and the current Qld elegibiliy officer was pit crew back in days of thwe White Monza, so he recalls many.
it isnt too hard, and best of all you get to run with similar type cars Cand A.
Next step is to get a bit more vocal, enter events down south, ie Eastern Cl, and Phillip Island, especailly when the Cand A cars are not able to fill grids, our money is as good as anyone elses. CAMS Historic Commission is happy to take our money to COD and Logbook them, they just now have to INSTRUCT the event organisers down south to let us the fark run!!
BTW the RX7 is fully set up, race ready to the 1985 specs, and is for sale at $25k, atm.
