well currently the weight table rules are competely fair for turbo's (against the 6L chevs) its a great balance currently.

Your trying to help everyone else from a 5999cc capacity downwards, so in your rules you would just need to add that the new table is for n.a cars only and either make up a table for turbo and 4wd cars that makes them what they are now or make turbos etc refer to old rules.

[quote]ok well first problem is that these weight tables were based around a few cars. Namely people like bobbies rx7 and ivans rotary etc.
the one in particular being bobbies, it was set for that car to be 975kg as it was proven at that weight to be mighty competitive. if we use your weight tables he can drop another 100kg which would make that car firstly extra stupidly quick and secondly.... dangerous. Well dangerous unless it was made out of unobtanium material. Which we dont want happening as the weight rule was partly put in to stop big money materials being used and hence keeping costs down.

2000X1.7 = 3400 3400X.09468+557 = 879kg's

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't a 2 litre turbo car be 900kg because it's not hit with the 75kg due to this.

'add 75kg to the above weights for vehicles above 2501cc swept volume'

Swept volume not capacity, so that would be the cars true capacity of 2000cc not 3400cc?

Hi Profi

I believe you are correct , The current rules have a Turbo 2000cc swept volume at a Minimum weight of 900Kg.

Standing on the edge of the obis . I want to say firstly I am not looking to help anyone(5999cc down).
My aim is to find a fairer way to rule on racing weights
Before we look at Turbo vs. Naturally aspirated weights can we get them squared away in there own right.
For all the same reasons as before I think the turbo current weights are very unfair,
Current table has a 2088cc swept volume turbo at 900 kg Why would it be fair that a 1480cc swept volume turbo also has to have a minimum weight of 900 kg ??? and if you go over 2090cc S.V. turbo add 75kg. Just not fair?????

I think i just found the problem, when the weight rules were done we still multiplied multivalve cars by 1.25. When that rule was dropped it changed what a 2L turbo multivalve car could be.

does this sound correct? Id say it was just overlooked?

Thanks for putting this up for discussion Ricey.

Can you or anyone else tell me the reason why multivalve engines are penalised with extra weight? Nobody I've spoken with seems to know the reason, other than to protect the pushrod dinosaur crowd?

I can't tell why , just what and when
2006
For Multivalve engines
To establis total engine capacity
A multiplying factor of 1.3 applied to
swept valume 2500cc naturaly assperated &
1500cc forced induction.
2007
All that was droped and replaced with
For Multivalve engines
"Add 75kg to the above weights( the weight table was above this ) for vehicles above 2501cc swept volume"
i thought the original method was better but just excessive. It dosent seem very fair just to
put the one lump 75gk to such a wide range of capacitys.
