Where's the MCM posts?

Postby Phast Phil » Tue Aug 09, 2011 10:00 pm

5 points:

1) The MCM thread was reducing to personal attacks and when that happens I will delete any thread. You can always start it up again (as you have) but keep it civil or it will go missing again. The supercar forum is censored before any input is published so as long as you guys play well together in the sandpit we will not have to revert to that measure. If that makes me short sighted then so be it, I am too old to change some habits.

2) pffft is a dummy spit I suspect

3) we have a National round this weekend at Morgan park so that should be top of the list in this forum. This forum is attached to the Kerrick Series website and you can thank Kerrick for sponsoring this site in the best way by recognising their National series and the competition within the series and the teams, drivers and cars in this series.

4) I will be in Cambodia when MCM is on so no chance for me to display my new car at MCM.

5) Love the threads on new car build (I will update mine soon I promise) and on you tube videos and pics of old cars and subjects like how many Gemini Sports Sedans were built etc.

Where's the MCM posts?

Postby jd yort » Wed Aug 10, 2011 6:15 pm

Anything other than topics related to the Kerrick series, sports sedan eligibility, Kerrick sporting regs and sports sedan history (we do have quite a past tradition that I know many of you love) may not survive on this forum so stay focused please.

Hi Phil,

Your response does not completely clarrify your stance on State Sports Sedan discussions on this forum. You have not confirmed if it is acceptable to discuss state based events / meetings (Yes/No). I completely understand personal attacks and recognising Kerrick (eg my thread titles on 10/10's) but to me staying on track has always been discussing anything Sports Sedan related.

pffft was i dont care, if you guys want it gone its going to go, we dont run the series or pay for the website and i cant be bothered arguing over something so mundane.
I cant remember what was in the thread, but if your going to put it down to personal attacks you can just remove THOSE posts not the whole thing right? thats the way it happens on every other forum.

Where's the MCM posts?

Postby Toymax » Wed Aug 10, 2011 7:55 pm

I contacted the MCM organisers today and after receiving over 50 expressions of interest initially, so far there are only 17 entries submitted for the event. This seems a pretty poor showing considering the status of the event and the opportunity it represents for our category, so I can only assume that people just haven't got around to getting the paperwork in yet. The closing date for the cheaper entries is the 19th August, so I urge anyone who wants to be part of the MCM to get your entries in as soon as possible.

Also thus far we have received not a single enquiry from anyone intending to put their car up for display only.

You're shitting me, 17 entries and not 1 for display, I can't fkn believe it. I hope that This opportunity is not going to be squandered. As I said previously I'm not saying that MCM is a panacea for Sport Sedans racing but it is the highest profile event that we've been involved in since the F1 support in Adelaide. I don't want to be a doomsayer but where's the field. It should be over subscribed. I truly believed that the 38 grid capacity would be the limiting factor, not apathy. In Tasmania we have a reputation for not buying tickets early enough for travellng acts resulting in cancellations of shows that would have been well supported. I can only implore all those who have a car to enter this event to show the amazing diversity that is Sport Sedans. And for display cars, where is Chris Clerihans Alfa, Mark Trenoweth Jag, Frank Ures Torana and a cast of thousands. Maybe I am just a SS tragic but please do not let MCM be a wasted opportunity to promote the last bastion of free thought in Motorsport !!! Please discuss

I feel your pain and welcome to my world.

I have 14 this weekend at Morgan Park so you are in front of me by 3 so far. As I have said before we probably have too many shows chasing the same customers and we all need to work together for a better outcome. I truly do not believe that sports sedans Australia wide can sustain 3 state series (maybe 5 including WA & Tas?) plus the 5 round Kerrick series plus additions like MCM and Bathurst. Does none of us any good if all fail or fall short, especially if we (the SS event organisers) are all losing money along the way.

We must be able to do it better...surely?

Maybe if there had been to response to expressions of interest, people would not have changed thier mind, I have heard many have chosen to go to alternative events, as the event was "oversuscribed" and there was no feed back from expressions of interest (mine at least), Ditto for Bathurst, Be so kind as to respond to someones expression of interest and they may support you.

Not so cranky. Bring on MP

I don't know who you are mr cranky, but I assure you everyone whose details were sent to me were emailed with MCM updates (some of them quite lengthy).

If you didn't get those updates, there may be 2 reasons:

1. You didn't forward the correct information as requested
2. You did but your email never arrived

PM me your details and I will resend all info to you, if you are interested. If you are not interested just say so, rather than bagging out the organisers. We have worked fucking hard to see this event be successful for Sports Sedans as a category - not just one State and not just the Nationals, but everyone - but I cannot do everyone's entry forms for them. Sometimes you have to take some responsibility for your own destiny. It is a common thing it seems and Phil and I have discussed it before, without coming up with any real solution. Maybe people are just all talk...

I'll admit I am one of the guilty ones who have not entered.

For us it is purely a question of time. To prepare the car, travel to and from the meeting and three days in Sydney amounts to basically a three week exercise. Thats three weeks less preparation time on the Monaro and probably any chance of it racing this year gone.

I was very keen to attend, it would be great to run in front of such a large crowd and the perfect place to advertise the Rover for sale. However the time required to attend the event is simply not possible at present.

I must commend the NSW Sports Sedan Assoc for getting us this opportunity. I truely hope you can rally the troops so the event can continue. I'd love to race there in the future.

Toymax - send me a list of any Queenslanders who have not entered and I'll try and chase them up.
