Yes, the white Mustang body was built by the same guy, Kerry Hitt, who is doing mine.

Good to get an insight into the build up of the chassis Phast Phill. The design philosophy of a Trans Am chassis is certainly different to what I am used to seeing, as they say there are many ways to skin a cat!

It will be nice to follow the build of your new car Phil. Are you using bits off the old car? or is it all new?

If its not too rude to ask.. what sort of budget do you expect a complete new car to cost?

That is a good demonstration to the dreamers of how much it costs to build a race car and how much is on the line every time you hit the track

Sports sedans are a good category but unfortunately I think it is now getting out of reach for most people. You dont see many new cars any more. Most are historic. I would like to see competitors at least updating the body every now and then.

Good luck with your project, I will keep an eye on progress.

There are different examples of what a car can cost though depending on what you can do yourself, and what type of gear you want to run. You can build a very competitive car for under 100k if you can do it yourself. AND out of reach for what? the outright win at a national level? dont forget theres always plenty of people to race at al ldifferent levels in sports sedans. thats what makes it so great! Its not a one make one speed line asturn category!

Little update on the m3.

Front end is tacked in place, geometry is finalised.

Not far off hitting the deck, need to fabricate up some castor arms and mount up the rack.

For you guys interested in what's inside.

Sb2.2 chev with a morrison injection.
RD6s holinger (current supercar box)
Current FPR molly diff housing modified to suit our 3 link rear end.
Forgeline wheels. 18*13's on the rear and 18*12's on the front wrapped in Michelins.
Full brembo monoblock brake package. 370mm rotors up front and 345's on the rear.
Racetec carbon kevlar seat.

Car should be rolling by the end of the month, once it's off the jig we will concentrate on the interior and body work.

Aiming to be testing this year and racing nect year.
