Going TO US, Place orders and expressions of interest

Postby Mopar358 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 2:24 pm

Hi I am off to the US on the 22nd of November returning on the 20th of December While over there I am attending the Dave Dayton Thanksgiving Auction in Indiannapolis. This three day event sells everything Race oriented from wheels brakes engines, trans, diffs etc. The prices are good and the condition very good. I attended last year and purchased components which would cost 100 to 250% more in Aus. The prices should be even cheaper this year with the Aus dollar way better and many Nascar teams feeling the pressure financially. Mark Smith from PME (Check his website) has a number of Chev SB2.2 engines for sale. His engines have won numerous Nationwide and Truck series championships and have just powered Tony Ave to the 2010 Transam Championship. Mark is moving to Toyotas for TRD and needs to quit all his Chev Stock. Speedway and Nascar make up most of the over 7000 items for sale but much could be adapted or used for SS. With Kerrick having Rolling starts 4 gears is all you need and a dog shift trans with any ratios you like with a shift would be under 5k with over 800 ft/lbs torque capacity has got to be good value.. Any queries reply to this post.

Cheers

What prices would one be looking at for a decent set of brake calipers e.g 6 spot Brembo, AP or Alcon?

It would depend on your wheel size. Last year I bought 4 spot radial mount brembos for 700 a pair and a lg set of alcon 6 piston off a Grand Am car for 900. Most brakes at the auction are ex Nascar and fit under 15 inch rim. Therefore rotor size is in the 320 mm to 360 mm . Performance brake are now making good calipers quite cheap and they build a 6 piston 370 mm package.
