NSW SS in trouble??

Postby 2002 turbo » Mon Apr 12, 2010 7:26 am

Spoke to Nick (I wasn't at Wakefield on the weekend, was working instead arggghhh).
He said in race one it bogged a bit off the line so he gave it a bootful but then the engined chugged and stalled. He mentioned that he had been having some issues with the way the engine was running in cooler conditions as it has recently been re tuned however when the engine is cold the tune isn't 100%. Anyway at first he was worried about getting hit from all the cars flying past but everyone got through ok. Went to hit the starter button to fire it up and nothing, 6 month old battery was dead so couldn't get the car going again!

He fitted a new battery and ran the rest of the races doing some real good lap times, despite the fact the car was running out of brakes in R2 & R3 and the brake pedal was going to the floor which meant a few trips into the Wakefield Park country side, you're a nutter Nick!!!
R3 looked like a close finish between him and Graham too.

NSW SS in trouble??

This thread really does need to be renamed, especially after 20 cars present at Eastern Creek today for Rd3. Fantastic turnout. Well done.

Interesting to see what I assume is the ex-Wayne Parmenter Supra running. Was this its first outing in the series? Any pics of it??

NSW SS in trouble??

If the Wayne Parmenter car is the Bob Welsh car, then yes that's the one. Birol Cetin bought it from Bob some time ago and has been working on it since. Birol up to now has been doing supersprints in an extremely quick Commodore (it started out as his family transporter and then he took to it...), so this weekend is the first race meeting the car has done for a long time.

Birol is still trying to sort out handling in the Supra, and spent qualifying and the 1st race today trying to sort out massive amounts of understeer. I reckon he'll have that thing going very quick very soon.

Unfortunately Birol wasn't the only one having trouble today, with Berry Polovic trashing the Mazda into the wall on the straight after clipping Mark Smith's Gemini, and Nick Smith and Derek Cowan coming together in turn 2 after Nick had a spin, resulting in Nick's car catching fire. All drivers are OK (although Berry will be sore tomorrow morning I suspect), but the cars will be out for some time.

Was also good to see Graham Smith get up for a win over Chris Jackson (Graham also got pole) and Dameon Jameson and Fred Axisa out there as well.

I agree with changing the title of this thread jd. Maybe you'd like to be one of the 30 (not a typo, I said 30) starters at Wakefield Park the last weekend in August? Anyone else from the National scene care to join us?

Are 4wd station wagons eligible?? Alternatively I could get a flatbed truck to circulate with my project car on the back.
