Tony Ave Mustang coming to Australia

Postby Robert Ryan » Tue Feb 16, 2010 4:47 am

Got this from Tony Ave in the US:
There is actually one of my new cars on a ship headed to Austrailia to compete later this year in your series, with a new body.

So who is he referring too?

From my email: I do not know if he is referring to NZ GT1 series or not, but he does mention Australia.

Dear Tony,
After talking to Todd Benne , he said you were developing new bodies for the Muscle Milk Trans Am series. I do not know if you have been approached or have approached any people from Australia, but that new Mustang body looks impressive.

Just like the intended visit from the Petch team in NZ it is all news to the series organisers and I assume we would know about it if it was to be in our series.
Best for them to contact us if they have real intentions so we can market the occasion.

This car should be arriving quite soon if not already.
The importer is Neil Bryson who will replace his Calibra with this brand new 2010 Mustang Trans am spec car.
A very welcome addition to the series and especially nice to have another Ford powered unit as I was getting lonely being the only Ford in pit lane.
Hey, would be good to see the 2 Fords against the 2 Corvettes and the 2 Camaros in a PPG dash one day.

Does anyone know what Bob Gill is going to do with that wonderful ex Greenslade black Mustang that is sitting in his shed. Seems such a waste to be sitting idle. Maybe one of his mates can motivate him to put a driver in it and USE IT.

Great news there Phil, i also agree with the Bob Gill owned Mustang, whats the point in such a nice car sitting collecting dust and cobwebs, surely someone would be interested in driving that thing...

Out of all the cars that are not racing, the Gill(ion) Mustang stands out.

It was purchased straight after PI (off memory) when Luke was in the top 3 in the Championship and a good chance at actually winning the title only for the car to never be seen again apart from in a magazine article. It was not like it needed to be updated or anything to make it competitive. Bob was racing quite actively at the time but I am not sure if he has raced since.

There would definitely be more to the story but is a real shame. Really need to start a Car in the garage thread similar to Loser's Facebook group.

I think Bob would put a driver in it if they offered the right sort of money....
