Logging out resets Post Count, asks to reset Password?

Postby FalconEL » Fri Jun 26, 2009 9:15 am

Is anyone else experiencing this, but if I log out of the forum I get asked to reset my password and the post count resets to 0?

Not that I'm trying to set a world record for number of posts on this forum or anything ;) , just curious as to why this might be happening and whether anyone else is having the same issue.

I've not logged out for about a week, I just shut the page down and when I want to jump back on I'm already logged in

Are there any techo boffins out there that can explain this one? Is it a Forum wide issue?

Hey Falcon EL.

There is some issues with the software that is being used to run the forum (Quicksilver). My post count has been reset numerous times and often receive the dead links when clicking on a thread. Basically I dont think any patches / updates or maintenance have happened to the forum since inception.

The biggest concern is that people are using this forum to spam. ie When you go through the users list some of the names are MyBestCreditOffers, Bananaafricana and FoxyLadyTexas. It is a security floor that needs to be addressed. I know the software has options to prevent "bots" from using the site as spam which require validation via email before making a registration complete & an option for anti-robot registration to stop spammers registering through automated scripts.

Someone (assuming Mark or Dean) needs to contact http://www.vp-it.com.au/ who are the host company to apply some patches and clear up the user list. They also need to fix the date and time of the server too. This forum discusses the problems with Quicksilver - http://forums.quicksilverforums.com/.
