Draft Rule Revisions 2014

Postby FalconEL » Fri Jul 18, 2014 4:10 pm

Hi all,

I'm keen to start up a thread to discuss the current rule revisions for 2014. A lot of work is currently being put in by various stakeholders, so post away. I'll put up the latest document from ASSA VIC and diagrams shortly.

Post away guys!!

Cheers, CD.

What are all these changes being made for? Isn't it time for people to
Step up and race instead of trying to lock out more cars??
Thanks roads

One reason is to clear up some "grey areas" in the rules.

The main reason cars are in sheds is $$$$$.

Another could be that there are various interpretations of what is eligible and what is not. This may be creating some uncertainty in terms of how to go about building a car.

Hopefully all the States can agree on a direction in which the rules should be heading ASAP.

The rule revisions are not to lock out cars. Rather open things up a little...from what I've seen.

Ahhhh Roads ive missed your negativity.

Serious answer is that it is very difficult to build a car to the current rules to its full potential. There are so many rules that people can read 10 different ways and instead of being allowed to interpret a rule the way you read it (which people may agree with) we have been told my cams that no we cant do it.... but without a decent answer as to why....

Alot of people have been fed up with this and want better defined rules so they know what they can and cant do.

We also want to move the rules out of the 70's and into the modern era, our cars are becoming 'old' compared to the modern gt cars and even cars in categories like prod sports. Our rules actually stop alot of new cars straight off the showroom floor from running as there standard electronics and things like that would render them illegal.

The draft rules look fantastic from what i have seen and make everything alot clearer and modern.

They are available, Falcon EL said he will post them here soon i think. I might see if i can get a copy, i have it on my old laptop.
You wont really be affected, the rule changes are relatively simple (well not simple but easily done without major overall changes to a car)
The biggest changes proposed allow alot more venting from the bonnet and gaurds at the front. other than that its some small electronics allowed like paddle shift. It also is trying to allow more aftermarket engine things like alloy blocks for v8s etc.
MOST of the rule 'changes' are just clarifications of stuff we have always known but are a little grey or have bad wording.

Just to confirm.
1. Are we allowed to use a complete alloy engine.
2. Is a Pale Shift system allowed
3. Is a sequential transmission allowed
4. Are we allowed to run 20 inch or limited to 18 inch wheels.
