Round 1 NSW State Motor Racing Championship - Sonic Evo 9

Postby sonic » Fri Apr 13, 2012 8:33 pm

Here's my footage fom the recent EC state sports sedan round. I blew a turbo in qualifying (first lap ffs) so missed qualifying and race 1 on Saturday. Got the car fixed and tuned and competed in races 2 and 3 on Sunday.

Took it pretty easy as i just wanted to finish the round after all the drama the day before.

Race 3 is more exciting as i hunt down and pass a couple of cars.

Race 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jog_bc5_VcM&feature=youtu.be&list=UUwO3TcKpB9uFVis38xyxvGQ
started ROG coz i didn't qualify, actually i was lucky to get a run at all as i'm still on my PC licence

Can't believe how many positions i lost by T3! this is with 270kw atw so it just goes to show the speed of the sports sedans, i couldn't hold them off between t1 and t2 and they brake well, they are brutes.

great vids sonic good to see you out there, hopefully we can entice more cars of your
kind to come race rather than do solely supersprints! its alot more fun door handle to door handle.

your drive off the corners is awesome with the 4wd, are you doing wakefield? you should be alot quicker
down there relative to some other cars

I was planning to do Wakefield but with the expense of the turbo the other week plus the fact the gearbox is crunching badly and the clutch is due to let go at any time, unfortunately i'll have to site WP out as i don't have the funds to do all that this month. Spewing as i would have expected to be a lot more competitive down there. Was down there a few weeks back and did a 1.03.5 on old tyres and a crappy track so high 1.02s would be possible. At this stage for my next SS event i'm hoping to be at EC for the combined state/nationals round in July but really it depends if i can get a sponsor on board to help with some of the maintenance costs.

Also i have a mate with a S8 RX7 (actually it's basically a production car) plus a weapon of an R32 GTR, interested in competing in NSW Sports Sedans. He's just got to sort some bits on the GTR's cage to get it log booked but has already logbooked the RX7 as a sports sedan. I expect he'll be out there soon.

There is a definite hesitation by the Supersprint/Time attack crowd as they are afraid of damaging their cars door to door. Many of the super duper TA cars wouldn't survive 8 laps on the pace at EC anyway, they'd have to detune their cars and also set them up differently for slicks rather than Rspecs. I am trying to get a few more people involved.

Good on you for having a run Sonic, nice to see another new car in the ranks. The start in race 3 was awesome! Would be great if your mates bring their cars for a run once they have a go they'll only ever want to race other cars and not the clock!
