I agree with the rules. I even stated the new rule and asked how the car ever complied to the old rule. It was great he was allowed to compete at Wakefield. Maybe he could be given until the end of season to make his car conform to keep the grid full?

The Monza was not compliant when first imported but allowed to race, just like the TransAm's, so how is it rubbish and baseless in any fact?

You implied that rules are bent or flexed only to suit 6 Litre cars. Rubbish.

TransAms were run under invitation when they first appeared in Australia, just like the Monza and the rules were "modified" after application was made through the correct channels at the time to allow these cars to compete.

CAMS approved these applications and thus the vehicle types you mentioned were approved for competition.

No rule bending or flexing involved.

Think you hit a nerv Toyzda.

And would CAMS approve the wheel base if Paul made an application to leave it ? From what i have read he's already spent a lot of coin to get it where it is ?

Or would it be just easier to run QR as it is ?

He wont be allowed to run any CAMS event if the car is not legal. It would be marked in his log book. If the car is long due to a massive caster angle adjustment on the lower arm, maybe he can wind it back to be legal? 60mm is a big irregularity though. Maybe he could find another chassis to run his hardware or modify his? An application to accept the wheel base maybe possible temporarily or permanently??? Maybe he could get an "invitation" to race...

Looks like I did hit a nerve...

Don't know and don't care about the Monza, that's ancient history. Trans Am cars ran under invitation when they first appeared. They were eligable for points in the Kerrick Series only. Only once the current rules were approved were these cars given sports sedan log books. This took several years I believe.

Anyway this thread is massively off topic.

I've heard around the traps Jeff Barnes has sold the gearbox from the Pontiac, I assume the rest of the car is also up for sale.

Geoff Gillespie's business commitments mean time to get the BMW repaired and running again is basically non existant. Hopefully it will run again but doubtful anytime soon.

C'mon guys, it's only this much too big

Paul had an irregularity with his car, i hope it isn't going to set him back too much. Im sure you guys are going to give him any assistance he needs with getting his car back on the track.

On a lighter note, it's good to see a little enforcing of the rules this year.

Pauls car doesnt look long in the wheelbase, did Paul build the car or did he purchase it like that, how did it get to run before, was it ignorance by Cams officials. Anyway keep working to get around the problem. This one looks the same as Pauls.

I could lend Paul my old Mustang body!
102 inches wheelbase as per transam regs.
I heard that someone added the allowable extra 100 mm in the original design and someone else added the 100mm again thinking the original measurement was sans the 100mm.
The old too many cooks issue again maybe?

I am sure they can find a body (maybe a newer shape) that would be suitable to go onto the chassis. Any ideas guys?
