Now that the 2007 series has been decided what is happening in 2008?

Well the series is scheduled to start at Mallal in May but that has just been thrown into confusion with Qld Raceway pulling out of the Shannons Nationals. The series dates have to be reasessed so as to get adequate event spacing to allow the teams to service/repair and make the following event after travelling up to 4000 kilometers round trip to some events.

Kerry Baily is building at least 1 new Aston Martin, David Wall may do the whole series in father Des's Trans-am Corvette, Bob Gill has built a new BF Falcon to do the full series, Bernie Gillon from NZ is confirmed as a series starter in a Trans-am Jaguar, Geoff Munday confirmed in a Trans-am Camaro, Phil Crompton back in the Mustang and building a late model Mustang Trans-am to replace the current car. Add to that Tamasi/Calibra, Randle/Saab, Hossack/Audi, Roddy/Jag, Jameson/Jag, Senese/Honda, Axisa/Commodore, Ervin/Mazda, Templer/Camaro, Voight/Nissan 300zx, McGinniss/Calibra, Camm/Honda or maybe a new car, Colin Smith in a rejuvinated Rover, The Donnelly Falcon from time to time, maybe MacReady in the Rover and Chris Jackson in the Calibra, Jeff Brown from NSW in a falcon blah blah blah and the list goes on.

I will assemble a confirmed list soon and keep you all updated as news comes to hand. Let me know of any more rumours. I predict 25 top cars on the round 1 grid.

I reckon David in Des's Vette will come close to winning the title with the experience he had in the porsche...Good to see the new breed coming through following in there olds footsteps ie... David Wall, Daniel Jameson and Graham Smiths son (not sure of his first name)..

Phil,

We should be at Mallala for Round 1 in the Falcon. Shane is keen to have a go around Mallala, it looks like a fun track.

I will have a run at Eastern Creek in July also. In our brief showing last year, it seems that our car suits that track pretty well.

We probably need a few more HP to keep up with you guys, but that still won't stop us having a great time!!

I'd say it will be the last season for us in the EB as we are looking at a new body shape/lighter frame for 2009/2010.

Cheers,
CD.

I'd say Tony will be back to defend his crown and favourite to win another. I think Phil just forgot to mention this in his original post.

I have heard that a new round is being scheduled for Phillip Island to replace the QR round (same weekend) but still awaiting an official word.

Well that is up to QR, it was their call and unlikely to ever change.
I would say no CAMS sanctioned races at QR at all for ever (except the V8SC race in 2008).

I agree. Two rounds at oran park would be great seems its the last year we will see it. Besides oran park is the home of sports sedans...
