Ian Boettcher race parts have 2 you could get your hands on EL. They realized after they brought them in to the country they couldn't be used for their application.

Ian's are the 'honda' journal engines though. Don't know how they would go in a circuit car (large change in revs), may be a little unreliable.

TO the best of my knowledge all sb2.2 use honda journal sizes as do the ford and Chrysler R5 P7. I would like to know what revs the engine made those figures at. Certainley not the 7800 or 8000 mandated by the Kerrick sup regs. I have a couple of very good Chrysler R5 P7s and they wont make any better than 790 at 8000rpm.

520 odd ft/lbs of torque at those revs? if you dont mind me asking, if you have dyno sheets, what revs is it making 700hp?

that engine makes 780hp at 7800rpm.

The R5 P7 is making 700 at 7100 RPM. The engines have been optimised for our regs with smaller runners in the inlet manifold and tweaked cam timing. They are a good alternative to Chev and Ford as due to Dodge pulling out of Nascar (with the exception of Penske whois continuing development but not selling engines) there is a glut of engines available. I have good contacts in Charlotte with 25 years of Nascar engine building experience and can source powerful reliable engines cheaper than Ford or Chev. The bottom line is they all(Ford, Chev, Dodge and Toyota use either Sonny Bryant or Winberg Cranks, Carrillo or Pankl rods, JE or Mahle pistons, Del West valves T&D oR Jesel OH gear with PSI Valve springs. The only different componentry is oil pumps, ignition, and exhaust. It provides a great opportunity to develop a chassis whithout having to worry about an unreliable or low powered engine.

Steve's Toyshop has been using SB2.2 Engines in our Camaro and Chris Jacksons Calibra for 3 years now. He has complete engines for sale plus parts to convert your 23 or 18 degree Chev to SB2.2. These are built with roller cams and are set up for Sports Sedan use. Most engines recently available are solid lifter cam units with 6mm valves and the IRL (1.85) crank journals with .787 pins. This combination as the fastest though not the most durable. Steve's engines are Honda (1.888) journals .866 pins with 7mm or 5/16 valves, roller cams and smaller intakes.
Steve can be contacted on 0407666149 or vigurs@bigpond.com

Pretty sure Ian's are untouched direct from the states. They can't be used by them being "canted valve". Only had dyno time at Sports Engines on the goldcoast and made some pretty impressive power. At what revs i'm not sure. I have an sb2 coming in Saturday for tuning in a new dirt latemodel so i'm looking forward to seeing the numbers. Irrelevant to whats going on here being 430 cube but still looking forward to playing with it.
