Resident Transam style race cars numbers just grew to 4 with the news that Dean Camm purchased the ex AC Delco Corvette C6 that raced in Australia in 2003.
The car was owned then by Christchurch Hotel owner PG Knight and driven by John McIntyre, taking wins at Phillip Island and Winton. More recently raced in NZ by Freeman.
The car has landed in Australia following Dean recently testing the Car in NZ and subsequent purchase.
Des Wall owns the ex Petch Corvette and plans to race the entire 2008 series with son David taking on the driving duties in additon to his Porsche cup commitment driving for Jim Richards team.
Geoff Munday debut at Sandown last December in the Camaro and will improve speed with each outing. Phil Crompton has the ex Collins Mustang from NZ and took a 3rd in heat 1 at Mallala and heat 3 at Sandown following major chassis improvements. He also has a 2nd Mustang under construction in his Brisbane workshop to debut in 2008 series. The old Collins car will be kept as a back up.

The aim of the second Crompton car is to build a lighter Trans am version for Sports Sedan racing and set a proven chassis base for further car contruction or provide a full set of 3D drawings for other fabricators to work from.

With the new Audi of John Gourlays and the Aston Martin of Kerry Baily under construction it seems that the sports sedan ranks are swelling with traditional design cars and Trans am cars.

With Bernie Gillon bringing the Jaguar over from NZ to run the 2008 series and another rumour of Luke Youlden driving the NZ based powerbuilt Mustang Cobra in the Aussie Kerrick series, 2008 may see 6 transam cars attacking the sports sedans. Tony Ricciardello may have to work very hard for his race wins this year!

thats awesome for dean too. Hopefully now someone buys the prelude. With a bit of money that car is very capable of being up the front.

that corvette is a rocket. It is killing me waiting for may. hopefully we can make it!

Dean was out at Sandown having a look at the Audi last weekend. I know he has been thinking about this for a while so it's good to see him make a step forward but the dayglow Prelude will be a sad loss with it's dragstrip starts.

Derin Greenslade has confirmed that his Mustang Cobra will join the full series with Luke Youlden named as the driver. This is the fastest NZ combination over the last 2 years.

Expect them to be right on the pace!!!!!!!!!!

dragstrip???

Camm's car was known for being able to launch from standing starts very well, no one could beat him to turn 1. Launched like a drag car on a dragstrip
