Mk1 Escort Sports Sedans

We have touched on these before in various threads but they are quite confusing. Can anyone clarrify or add to some of the front running Mk1's over there years:

1) John English Bryan Byrt Escort: Sold to Peter Dane in 82 to become a Thomson Ford Escort. Was then sponsored by QBE and driven by Vernon?? Did this then end up with Jamie Miller before ending up in Byron as mentioned on here?
2) Dr Ian Corness Bryan Byrt Escort: Sold to John Lord to also become a Thomson Ford Escort. Then what?
3) John Bassett Globe Escort: Raced by Ian Gow in the early 80's and now under ownership by the lucky Escortman, but who were its other owners?
4) Gary Rogers Escort: Originally Bill Fannings before being sold to Gary. Raced a large part of its life by Rob Davies in Tas and now also with Escortman, but who else raced this?
5) Sigley Escort: Dominated in Qld in the 80's.
6) Tony Wilson Escort: SRC sponsored in red and white livery and raced in NSW into the late 90's
7) Allan Moffat Escort: Originally a Alan Mann factory car. Supposedly a V8 Sports Sedan in Qld but which one?
8) Phil Ward Escort: Built by Phil (Black & silver) Sold to Monterosso, then onto Newbound, damaged heavily in a big accident and possible reshelled. Still with the English clan??
9) Ken House Escort: Has Ken always owned this?
10) Tony Herbert Escort: Raced in NSW from 84.
11) Michael Jacobson Escort: Raced in NSW & VIC in the early 80's.
12) Glenn Seton Escort: Built by Bo, raced by Tony Apps and then Falcon EL. Were there other owners Chris? Or was this the Sigley car??

There were plenty of others including Ken McGann, Craig Kinmonth, Jeff Groves, Bridge....

9) Ken hasn't always owned it, i'll have a chat with him about it's history, i'm sure it dates well back into the 80s.

Im sure Ken had it circa 1985 as i recall it at a meet when the Superkarts were running at Calder for the Bob Jone T-Marts series and the Sports Sedans were a supporting act... A guy named Frank Tyler had a red Escort around that time...

Hi Troy,

5) Sigley Escort: Dominated in Qld in the 80's. AND 12) Glenn Seton Escort: Built by Bo, raced by Tony Apps and then Falcon EL. Were there other owners Chris? Or was this the Sigley car??

It's the same car. Tony Apps owned it, Brent Lyndon raced it for him, then I purchased it for the start of the 1996 season.

It's now owned by former Karter and Aussie Racing Car gun Travis Edwards and will be hitting the tracks again soon!

Cheers, CD.

Hi all regarding one of the escorts which i have.

these are the owners of my car from the pasts

1) Dr Ian Corness ( first registered with cams 1980)

2) J. Lord (1981)

3) John Vernon (1983)

4) Trevor Bridge (1987)

5) Jamie Miller (1991)

6) Brad Seagrove (1999)

7) Matthew Gillespie (2001)

8) John Varham (2003)

9) and myself Stephen Vines (2004-)

So the old girl has been around in its time, the last time it was on track was the island magic in 04 where we hurt an engine,so while the engine was out we went over the car to find it had its used by date and started to fall apart.

The whole rear of the car was holding on by 20mm of weld it was ready to fall out (thank god the engine went). We have replaced from the main hoop back alot of work is getting done to the car .So

Mk1 Escort Sports Sedans

Good to hear the Miller Escort still lives, I didn't know that it had such a long racing history. Was a certainly quick rotary powered state level car in NSW in the early 1990s at Oran Park. Not quite a match for Joe Said's Fiat 124 rotary or David Attard's Datsun 1600 rotary but it was usually up the front.

Updated
1) John English Bryan Byrt Escort: Sold to Peter Dane in 82 to become a Thomson Ford Escort.
2) Dr Ian Corness Bryan Byrt Escort (1980): Sold to John Lord (1981) to also become a Thomson Ford Escort. Then John Vernon (1983), Trevor Bridge (1983), Jamie Miller (1983), Brad seagrove (1999), Matthew Gillespie (2001) and currently with Stephen Vines.
5) Tony Wilson Escort: SRC sponsored in red and white livery and raced in NSW into the late 90's
6) Allan Moffat Escort: Originally a Alan Mann factory car. Supposedly a V8 Sports Sedan in Qld but which one?
7) Phil Ward Escort: Built by Phil (Black & silver) Sold to Monterosso, then onto Newbound, damaged heavily in a big accident and possible reshelled. Still with the English clan??
8) Ken House Escort: Has Ken always owned this?
9) Tony Herbert Escort: Raced in NSW from 84.
10) Michael Jacobson Escort: Raced in NSW & VIC in the early 80's.
11) Glenn Seton Escort: Built by Bo,`sold to Tony Sigley, owned by Tony Apps and raced by Brent Lydon, then Chris Donnelly. Now owned by Travis Edwards.
12) The others Kinmonth, Groves, Frank Taylor...

That is an amazing history SVR. I always thought the Miller car was one of the Byrt Escorts. One confusing this is that I have a clipping of the car with QBE sponsorship on it for sale stating that it is the English car, not the Corness car??
I have a clipping of ken House with an Escort for salein the early 80's. Curious if this is the same car.
