Those lower front control arm mounts on the BMW look too weak to me.

Nice looking fabrication there Liam, but may I ask why outboard suspension when you could have put the shocks out of harms way with a rocker setup? Also, I know its not finished but I am assuming you will be bracing the top suspension mount? a big bending moment there.

Still plenty to go in, the lower control arm mount will be incorporated into the rack mount, once this is done, it will be solidly triangulated into the chassis.
If you look in the last picture, the bar that the upper control arms mount into is starting to be triangulated in.

Keep picking things guys, great feedback from another perspective.

Cheers,
Liam

Hey Guys,

Time to get some pics up of the rx8 as it's starting to resemble something.

Plans for the car is to run the same engine and box from his previous rx7 - 20b N/A and sequential holinger.

The body will be made completly of composites (carbon fibre and glass)

With some neat little parts such as brembo brakes, penski dampers, quick change diff, fabricated molly uprights and forgeline wheels, it should be a little weapon.

If you guys are interested, we will do regular updates on the build.

Cheers,
Liam Hill

Silly question..... Why is the exhaust running from the drivers side to the front of the engine and down to the passenger side?????. Is this car being built right hand drive maybe?????.

Yep, it's going to be right hand drive, though being a rotary you need to get length out of the headers, putting them around the front isn't a disadvantage.

Rx8 is coming along well, front end mocked up, waiting on a few laser cut brackets before it can be tig'd up.

Paying around with body panels.

Guards are being flared, not going to go full width though, it's a big car for a 20b N/A.
