individual car discussions

Hi guys,

wondering if we could put a new 'discussion' link in.

basically just like for sale, general discussion etc. have a 'the cars' category or something.

where we have tony's alfa as a car and all updates about his car can be added by him or someone who knows him, things that went well or wroing with the cars. im just using tony's as an example. would be great if every car was on there individually. maybe there already is somewhere in the website for this but i rekon on the forum would make it much easier to update and add too etc.

for example i could put our calibra (graham smiths car) up and say yeh its got this this and this. this blew up, this new bit gave us this much time etc etc. this would sort of start a good list of cars as people add them and would keep a decent update on where everything is instead of solely relying on the drivers to write stuart an email. which doesnt happen enough

what you guys think?

Sounds like a great idea Boost, but as you said, it will depend on the drivers/team to provide the update. Hope it will take off, maybe you should start. That was your Fiat in the pics, give details about that as well as the Calibra. Even if it a round by round progress would be good for the national cars, just a short story of how the weekend went and where they qualified and finished in the races would be great info for me, as being in tassie, don't get to hear amnd see much of the Oz series. This could also include the all state series guys as well. :D :D Sorry Boost, I may have taken this a bit further than you anticipated!!! :D :D

no thats exactly what i was thinking really. i mean tho on the main page of the forum a new link thats called whatever and inside that is all the topics which would be the cars. like we are in 'general discussion' and this is a topic within it. doesnt even need to be the team/driver that updates it. plenty of people know what happens to different cars onthe w/e, so anyoine can update it.

stuart if your reading this is it a possibility??

coz if we put it in general discussion it will all get lost in the norm convos

I agree Boost, it would be great to have a listing of sport sedans in oz, esp the older ones, like the A9X of Des, which is the ex HRT car, just to know the history behind the cars would fill in the gap a lot. Example is Kerry, I know that he said racing sports sedans in tassie, and his first car was an XU1 Torana, which he sold to a guy named Slater, he then built the Supra which he ran since 1987 until he debut the 300ZX. He also brought the Keith Carling 300ZX, so he could get the moulds for the body, and then he sold the car to Graeme Bailey (the 1986 Bathurst winner), who in turn has sold the car to Stephen Voight, who has now sold it to McCready (if this is correct). The word is now, that once Kerry has the Aston Finish (and Phil when is the next update on this build!!!), Glenn Seton is to drive the 300ZX. Hope this is true, as this would be great for the series having him racing in it!!! Maybe we should have a history page, where the old sports sedans are listed and then we/drivers/team owners can update the list, as to whether the cars have been sold or being restored. :D :D :D

we could do this if we actually had the money in the series coffers to pay for it.
We need a website sponsor as the series is running a very tight budget this year due to the poor entry numbers at rounds 1 & 2. We need more entrants actually racing.

What is wrong with the Victorians. Too cold to work on the car maybe???????? Simple answer...move to Queensland.

Too many good cars sitting in garages.
On this list is the Roddy Jag, Muscat Mazda, (Randle is rebuilding the SAab following big crash) Lukes Mazda (not sure how Lukes leg is and if he is up to racing fitness yet), Damian Johnsons Torana (needs a turbo), the Rice Commodore, The ex Ayton calibra etc. Add to the list please.

Luke Chambers was at last PI state round, I would think that Mallala set them back a long way, remember they blew up at Calder in Feb and didnt get going again until Mallala so they may not be back till late this year... Bryson is developing the car slowly so I would think eventually he may turn up, the car has sported upgrades slowly since he debuted it. Maybe later this year/next year. Gilliland had an accident at PI.

Heres the others off the top of my head who would be able to make the qualifying cut I think.
Rod Smith - EL V8 Supercar - no interest if not up front?
Terry Hamilton - VS V8 Supercar - races once or twice a year
Charles Talbot - VN Commodore - ex Michael Robinson state winner
Michael Robinson - Monaro ?
Chris Templar - Camaro ?
Bob Gill - BF Falcon ?
Glen Hastings - Cortina ?
Keith Linnell - Cortina ?
Rod Newbound - RX7 - trouble early last year with car hasnt been seen since
Luke McPherson - RX7 Turbo - was for sale?

That would be fantastic to see Seton race in a strong car be great for the category...

Anybody think that this could be a possibility???
