South Australian Sports Sedans

Postby Htc Motorsport » Tue Apr 07, 2009 6:10 pm

Just a quick note to anybody concerned or in the know of South Australian based racers who want to get involved in starting the Sports Sedans class back in S.A. I have arranged a meeting with the Sporting Car Club at their head office on King William Road, Unley on Wednesday the 15th April at 6.00 pm.

We need to get as many people, racers there as possible in order to show support for this class. Any one with cars who maybe wanting to sell or just wanting to be involved someway please attend this meeting. This is the start to getting things rolling. Its taken a long time for this to happen so do your best to attend....if you need any more info dont hesitate to call me on 0409 857 917......

Thanks
John

Hey HTC,

Drop a note over on Ten-Tenths and the Biante forum too as those web sites get a lot of hits.

Not one South Australian based Sports Sedan entered for Mallala. That is dissappointing!

Yep i agree with you. Plenty in sheds but no interest. I've tried to get some things happening but to no avail. There is no interest for these guys to run.....so they say anyway. The meeting that i organized a month ago went ahead, but only myself and Nathan Mills turned up, very disapointing i can tell you. I then organized a display day at the last meeting but no one was interested. I don't know what to do next, i'm a little way off yet running mine. I know that Simon Longhurst is trying to get out there, motor was on the dyno last time i spoke to him. Dave Brennsell just purchased Mick Monterosso's engine so he's not far off. Nathan is not far off either. Considering there's 30 cars in shed's it's very dissapointing.

No local support puts the future of the clem smith cup in jeopardy.
Can't expect entrants to drive 4000 k's round trip to keep a SS race in SA if the locals will not drive 50 k's.

No interest = too lazy for most I suspect.

I know a Melbourne fellow who wrote of a car in a massive rollover at PI and next meeting 6 weeks later he was back and actually won the day. So why does it take longer to fit an engine to a car?

Nothing out of 30 cars in sheds is nearly unbeleivable actually.

Like i said, i agree with you. I feel sorry for all you guys from interstate who support this round. Especially those from QLD who didn't get a round.

Yea Im not overly impressed myself...

I do have a car myslef but is in a very sorry state at the moment... Unfortunately with work and family commitments time is short to do something about it :(

I am getting closer to working on the car (much closer than I have in the past!) and am looking forward to getting it going!

I guess whats dissapointing is that there are cars in running order and there not brought out to compete??? :(

Im working with John on trying to get the category back up and going again in SA! Now Im living here full time and doing less travelling I can be more focussed on making it happen!

One thing I know that is hard here in SA is that there is only one track... If there were 2 or 3 tracks at least there would be some variety in the circuits...

Anyway... we have the tracks we have (and Clem is a "BIG" supporter of Sports Sedans) so lets deal with it and make it happen!

We really only have 1 track in queensland also as the other 2 (QR & Lakeside) have no CAMS events.

What is the state or condition of AIR? Old Bob still likes sports sedans last time I spoke to him. Then again it will only be AASA events like QR and Lakeside.

The noise restriction at lakeside is too low for any SS to compete uless I ran the exhause around the car twice filled full of mufflers!
