Seems like your putting more effort in the state level championship then the national series
I wonder why things never pick up

I think that the Victorian association should be referred to as just that, The Victorian Sports Sedan Association. As it is at present, anyone looking at this site could be forgiven for thinking that this is the Australian SS site. Pity that as much effort has not been put into the National scene and the National series as has gone into this. Are we seeing a move by the Victorian's to take control of the National body?

I think they have done that before
Isnt the national series and Vic state series being run by Vic's
Isnt the push to run with the state series pushed by vic's
nothing against vic's but it just keeps happening again and again

I agree seems a little bit ambushed here, after all was were told before that we wasn't aloud to promote state events on here (eg the historic meet , etc), and now this topic!!!! It is nice to have big fields for state racing, but we need to promote the National Series and bring that back to life. I would love to see it back to the days of great cars, great drivers, and awesome racing. The only way we can do this is to promote this as being the best category in OZ (which I believe it is even after all the years). But I think it is going to become political again, and this is what almost killed it before, even if we can get together and run Historic Sports Sedans and/or Under 2 Litre as supports??? Make it a day for this category not just tack it on to someone elses championship would be great to see again. Sorry for the rant, but like most of you, you only want what is best for this category, and not see it's numbers disappear!!! :D :D

I think some of you guys are being a little harsh.. Sports Sedans and racing in general is struggling in these times like everything else. The Vic website has been long overdue for an overhaul, it's look was out of date as was the content. The members in Vic have done nothing but talk for hours on end at every meeting in the last 6 months about how to promote our sport Australia wide including getting the National and state guys united.. This website upgrade is just the start of hopefully a big year of promoting our class in general. To be fair on Mark, he was just letting people know that after a few months of hard work, the site is up and running. If we spent all this time working on it and nobody knew it was there it would be a waste...
Yes, I guess you could say the push to run the national guys with the state rounds may have started with the new National series organisers who happen to be from Victoria, but it was only a suggestion and every member of the Australian Sports Sedan Association in every state was asked to vote on it. I believe the intention was to get more cars at every race which is just what we all want, racers and spectators alike. I think as the year goes on you'll find the 2 meetings that are being run at the state rounds will be the biggest sports sedan meetings we have seen in a long time. I hope all rounds get maximum grids but in reality in these times it's just not going to happen.
We all want to have Sports Sedans as the main feature and get a run at events like the grand prix etc. but the reality is if there are only ever 10 cars turn up, soon, and i mean in the next year or 2 we will not be running at all. And that is the reality.
It's easy to sit here and can people about things, I used to bitch and moan about dates being conflicting etc. and think it was a big conspiracy. So instead of whinging about it, I became a committee member which I have only been from the start of this year.
It is the hardest most thankless job I have ever had to do, and why anyone would want to keep doing it is for one reason only, because like us all they love sports sedans and want to see them continue as the best category in Australia.
We spend 5-6 hours every committee meeting debating what we can do for this class, we spend the same amount of time at general meetings, then every single day emailing, organising things etc. It never stops, and that is at state level. on top of that Mark and Dean do it all again and more for the National series..
So perhaps instead of sitting here canning everything and being negative, if you have any ideas at all, get them out to us. Email the organisers, use this and other forums to put ideas out there for us to get this category moving, realistic ideas that are achievable that we can act on. Surely with the amount of people using this forum we could get enough ideas to outgrow the super taxis.. And then we can trully have a great National Series and State series again.
THAT IS ALL!!!!

I think it is a positive having the same people representing both a state series and the national series at the moment ensuring consistency in the long term strategy of the class. Also think it is a great web site. My only concern is with the site actually having its own forum.
There have been a few of us who have really tried hard to contribute to getting this forum going.( You all know who you are). These activities have included regular posts on other far more popular general motor racing forums mentioning threads here on and even the existence of the website. Slowly but surely fringe members have become a bit more active on here and it is great we now see people asking questions about setups etc and having people in the know actually respond. In my eyes trying to have a high concentration of Sports Sedan competitors and supporters in the one forum is a step in the growth of the class.
Many other forums have state based discussion groups within the same forum. Eg Skylines Australia which has separate groups for each State. You could just create State based group as well as the overall National group in the one forum. Its not difficult. If people click on the forum link on the VIC website it points to the National site, VIC grouping.
